Ontario local SEO and Google Business Profile for trades

Local SEO helps an Ontario trade show up when someone in a town it serves searches for that trade. It works best with a correct Google Business Profile, honest service areas and useful pages.

Local SEO is the work that makes your trade appear when a homeowner in one of your towns searches for what you do. For Ontario trades the hard part is usually geography: one crew may work across several municipalities and two regional governments, and the temptation is to fake a presence in each. We do it the honest way, and that tends to last longer.

Who this is for

This service fits Ontario trades that get few calls from search, or that rank well in their home town and nowhere else. It also suits owners who've been burned by an agency that built dozens of near-identical town pages.

If you work from home or a shop that customers don't visit, you're a service-area business in Google's terms. That changes how the profile should be set up, and many Ontario trades get it wrong.

What's included

The first 90 days focus on the profile and the pages, because those two carry most of the weight in local results.

  • Google Business Profile review: categories, service area, hours, services and photos. We hide the street address if customers don't visit, as Google expects for service-area businesses.
  • Service area set to real towns: the municipalities you'll actually drive to on a normal day, not every place within 200 km.
  • Business information check: your name, phone and website written the same way on the main directories you're listed in.
  • Service pages that answer questions: one strong page per main service, with the local detail that a homeowner in your area needs.
  • A review routine: a simple, honest way to ask happy customers for a Google review, with no incentives and no filtering of unhappy customers.
  • Monthly reporting: calls, website visits and direction requests from the profile, plus what we did that month.

A note on Ontario service areas

Ontario's municipal map makes service areas tricky. A business near the Peel–Halton line may serve Mississauga, Oakville and Milton, which fall under two regional governments. Ottawa is a single city of 24 wards stretching from urban Centretown to rural West Carleton. A crew in Waterloo Region may cross Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge in a day.

The fix is to list the towns you really cover, write one useful areas page about them, and earn reviews from customers in each. Our areas hub and region pages, such as the GTA page, explain how this plays out across the province.

Timeline

Period Work
Weeks 1–2 Audit, ownership check, profile fixes
Weeks 3–6 Service pages written or rewritten, directory clean-up
Weeks 6–12 Review routine running, first reports, adjustments
Months 4–6 New towns added only where reviews and jobs support them

How we measure it

Rankings move around daily and by street, so we don't report them as the main number. We track calls from the profile, website contacts from search, and how many of those became quotes. If your profile delivered 25 calls a month and now delivers 40, and one in three turns into a job at $1,500, that's about $7,500 more monthly work.

What you can check on your own profile today

Five minutes on your own Google Business Profile tells you a lot. Search your business name on a phone and look at the panel that appears.

  1. Is the primary category the trade you most want calls for, rather than a generic one?
  2. Does the service area list the towns you really serve, and nothing much further?
  3. Are your hours accurate, including holiday and emergency hours if you offer them?
  4. Do your photos show your own vans, crew and finished jobs?
  5. Has every review from the last six months had a reply?

If two or more answers are no, the profile is the cheapest place to start, and you can fix most of it yourself in an evening.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Virtual offices and borrowed addresses. They break Google's rules and can cost you the whole profile.
  • Keyword-stuffed business names. Adding "Best Plumber Toronto" to your name invites suspension.
  • Buying or swapping reviews. Beyond the platform risk, Canada's Competition Bureau treats misleading representations seriously.
  • Ignoring the profile after setup. Answer questions, add photos of real jobs and reply to every review.

Local SEO pairs naturally with a credential-forward website, because the profile sends people to the site. Costs are on the pricing page, and our HVAC results show what patient local work produced for clients such as Roma Heating & Cooling, whose organic traffic grew 400% in 12 months.

Frequently asked questions

How long before local SEO shows results?

Fixes to a broken Google Business Profile can show within weeks. Ranking in new towns usually takes three to six months, and longer in crowded GTA markets.

Can you add a second address so I show up in another city?

No. Listing an address where you don't really operate breaks Google's guidelines and can get a profile suspended. We use a service area instead.

Do you promise first-page rankings?

No one honestly can. We commit to the work, show you exactly what was done each month, and track calls and messages from search.

What if my Google profile is owned by an old agency?

We'll help you request ownership back through Google's own process. Going forward, you hold primary ownership and we work as a manager on the account.
